Diana- Welcome to TIST- Kathleen? I taught in Jonesboro for five years back in the day. Attending a late fair can be interesting. It's a potentially bitter-sweet scenario. Most schools have filled positions, but inevitably many have had…

I am interested in teaching primary grades 2-4, English only for me, and love to ski and play tennis.  Anyone know of a school that offers these activities to the young students?  That would be my dream!

More Engaging Books for Boys!

Hi everyone. I am running an afterschool program to support boy's reading. Troy's post with football/soccer themed novels is amazing! Many of my boys enjoy reading Eric Walters novels.

PART III in the series...

"Creately is an easy to use and collaborative diagramming application that runs in your browser. With a powerful and intuitive interface, Creately is great for teams working together on diagrams & designs."
www.creately.com
Creately is very similar to Inspiration from Mac. There are two features that I really like about this resource.

1) The collaborative element. You can invite collaborators, they can make comments on the diagram.
2) You can embed the end product, so it will go neatly into your blog, wiki, ning, etc.
Have a look at the official promotional video.

PART II in the series...

Classroom Transparency- Parent/student correspondence via gmail.

If this seems like a no-brainer, it’s because it is. Communicate with your parents on a daily basis in a matter of seconds (maybe minutes). Some of the functions I perform with my class gmail account:
- assignment notifications with guidelines and due dates
- letting parents know about missing homework
- answering student questions regarding assignments
- sending specific messages to parents dealing with accolades or questionable academic concerns or even behavior issues
- receiving homework

My school works on a block schedule, which is wonderful for classwork. There is a disadvantage in that we only meet three days a week. The email correspondence, along with wiki and blog work allow our classes to continue beyond the time constraints of the school timetable.

Don't forget to check out PART I- the online gradebook Endgrade..
